CBS4 features TLC Meals on Wheels
TLC Meals on Wheels received excellent publicity in early October when CBS4 Denver sent a reporter/photographer to ride along with one of our drivers. The story was about the effects of gas prices on non-profit organizations, but offered numerous opportunities to highlight the dedication of our volunteers. Click here to view the piece.

Meet Our New Executive Director
The board of directors of TLC Meals on Wheels is pleased to announce the hiring of Phil Miller as its executive director, beginning Aug. 1. Rather than the board telling you about Phil, we'll let him introduce himself:
"In August, I'll officially begin working as the new Executive Director of TLC Meals on Wheels. I'm excited to lead the effort to make sure homebound people receive the nutritious meals and the human connection they need. In addition, I'm honored to serve with those for whom TLC Meals on Wheels has been a vital way to contribute to the community.
"The Board of this organization has some very good objectives in mind to build on its 40-year legacy and solid reputation. In the near future, I expect we'll dare to achieve those objectives. My main concern over the next few months, however, is to get to know you--the clients, cooks, board members, drivers, substitutes, and contributors whose lives have been enhanced by giving and receiving through TLC Meals on Wheels.
"Let me begin by telling you something about my background. I was born and raised in Albuquerque and spent many summers at the Estes Park YMCA Conference Center, which is where I met my wife, Paula. After attending college at Texas Christian University and seminary at Southern Methodist University, I served congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Texas and Kentucky for over 25 years. Meanwhile, Paula and I raised two daughters. Hope now lives in New York City while Emily is in Austin. Paula was a classroom teacher for several years before moving into staff development work for schools. She now works with the Public Education and Business Coalition in Denver.
"For a couple of years, I built a massage therapy practice in Fort Worth. Then, following the events of September 11, 2001, I accepted a call to serve at the Pentagon as a chaplain. (I had become a chaplain in the Air Force Reserve in 1985.) I remained on active duty through this past April, serving at the Air Reserve Personnel Center in Denver and at Headquarters, Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. I will remain (part-time) in the Reserve as a colonel at the Space Command in Colorado Springs for two more years before retiring altogether from the military.
"A meaningful memory from my years in pastoral ministry was my term on the Board of Meals on Wheels Plus, of Abilene, Texas. That experience helped me understand that if I could have the opportunity to direct the program of TLC Meals on Wheels, I would welcome the challenges that come with the job. I'm eager to get started."
